Summary:
A young man walks the interstate looking for golden-filled plastic bottles in hopes that they might contain meth.
My Thoughts:
Interesting look at the lengths that people will go to in order to feed an addiction, as well as the surprising normality of life in their not too distant memory. Do they look back on their life before the addiction with sadness, regret or indifference?
Quotes:
“Walking with his head down along the interstate, his heartbeat rose whenever he caught sight of a plastic bottle, only to be let down when it didn’t contain urine.” -Geoff Peck, Gradation
“He thought about the dynamics of driving — how the driver was on the left side. Would they really lean across the passenger seat to toss out a bottle of piss?” -Geoff Peck, Gradation
“With thoughts of separation and reconstitution he shook the bottle up like juice.” -Geoff Peck, Gradation
